LOST SPACE? The woman in public space!
A project by culture unlimited
Studying and analyzing obvious and subtile discrimination by the way how the sexes are represented and counteracting by performing street arts in regional and international comparison, these are the contents of LOST SPACE?.
How are women represented in public space? How do women represent themselves? Can we recognise any patterns in the representations of women and men from a public / state point of view? Do they represent lived reality?
What does the economy (for instance billboards) contribute to the understanding of women’s and men’s role in public space? How does the “subculture” react to these role models? How do they make obvious discriminations public?
These are the questions we pursue and would like to invite you to collect photos of street signs, street names, pictograms and street arts (murals, adbusting, graffiti in general) here in this blog – everything that can be assigned to this topic. Please also write a short commentary indicating where and when you have taken this photograph and under which circumstances.
